Collision course: When life leads you southward

The impact of one object coming forcibly into contact with another creating change. When our minds are headed towards a collision course the impact can be disastrous. I call it the 3 S' tonic that will pollute your thinking: Shocked, Smash and Splintered.

This tonic does not increase your energy, it saps the life out of you, it does not increase your intellect but dries up every crevasses of your brain like a dried desert, it weakens even the strongest mind.  Changes impact your entire life. It is the 3 S' tonic that pollutes our minds.

Shocked
Many people are stunned at the obstacles of life that affect our daily living. Take joblessness, a great impact on our economy. Our society thrives when people have created a job or working one. The life is sucked out of our society when people are not able to take care of their families. Some of us sit in our comfort and forget that it is not just about your life style but also the lifestyles of others. You may disagree but economically we thrive when we work together collectively. The shock of it all is seeing people challenged by change. Change in both their economic and personal status.

Smashed
This collision includes dreams deferred. The circumstances of life impact both vision and thinking. Some of us become trapped within the troubles that surround us daily. We take on every battle but, never find a solution. For example in a 1949 movie called Impact (Brian Donlevy, Ella Raines, and Charles Conburn) one of  betrayal and deception, placed a husband down a collision course full of trials and test that would change and weaken his life. He decided to change his painful thoughts to ideas of progress.

Splintered
A splinter lodged in your foot, hand or nails really hurts. It may take days before it is dislodge. The area may become hot and even swell. But, you pick and pick until the splinter is removed. The point, splinters may lodge, block off and even distract, it will be painful for some too, but decide that splintering is temporary and removable with a little effort.  Collisions drastically impact our lives. The question becomes: What collision course are you on, and how has it impacted your life?

The key is to set your head right, set the right goals, set the right activities and regular review what you are doing. Know that distractions are all around us some self imposed, but keep focus stay in the game and thrive. The collision you are currently on may become the catalyst you need.

  1. I enjoyed this post, Carolyn. You forgot to mention divorce. I can relate to that one. It certainly can through you off course, disrupt your life completely, shatter your dreams and stop you in your tracks. But eventually, you have to take that splinter out so you can begin to heal, and move on. Thanks!

  3. What I think of this blog is that we must be open to changes that go on in life. And we have to avoid worrying about things that our out of our hands. The more we adapt to changes the better we will be in the long run.
